July in Wisconsin.

July brought sunshine and happiness to the world in 2006. Emily, Anna and I spent a good deal of time at the home of a friend with a beautiful pool. Yours truly actually performed some of the best one and a half tucks ever. You had to start to spin pretty early and fast but you could get around.

Started work on the Christmas piano instrumental album. It is one of the most difficult things I have ever done, to arrange and perform original versions of traditional holiday carols when it's 85 degrees and sunny outside.

Life is busy. Here's an example of a particularly hectic stretch: 7-20, Mad Cabaret at the Slipper Club, perform until 1, up until dawn, drive to 105.5 WMMM and do the 7-21 morning show with Jonathan and Kitty. Drive to LaCrosse for my lifelong friend Mark Davini's wedding, Play an outdoor Triple M show 7-22 at Greenway Station from 5-7 and drive to Giada's for 10-1. That's what being a musician for a living feels like. I'm not a rock star like I aspired to be in my youth but I am one of the luckiest people on the planet to be doing what I love.

Farewell to The Slipper Club

It is a very sad day to see the Slipper Club close after two and a half years of magical sold out Cabaret shows. Jack and Kristi gave their hearts and souls to make a go of it but for a myriad of reasons, the club didn't draw the amount of people it should have to generate a good gate. It's a travesty really, the club is something Madison needed. It was a big city venue in a small midwestern place. I will miss the
weekly camaraderie of the cast, the eclectic nature of the people and the workout! It will hit everyone else later but I know it will be a void in the lives of all concerned. The Mad Cabaret will go on. We will perform monthly or perhaps more at other venues around Madison and beyond but The Slipper Club is like a cast member. It won't be the same without her.

The Jill Sobule Show

On June 9th, Tag Evers bestowed the honor upon me to open the show at The High Noon Saloon for the lovely and talented
Jill Sobule. I warmed up the crowd with solo piano and acoustic guitar versions of Attack Of The Delicious songs. It felt good and it was a treat to get to know Jill a little bit. She is a very warm and engaging person. Her album, "Underdog Victorious", is a wonderful piece of work.
